Watching Movies Featuring Pets Are Good for Us
Whether it’s Lassie, Eddie, Milo, Snow Dogs, Air Dogs or Dog With A Blog, scientists pretty much agree now that watching a movie or TV show starring dogs and/or cats lowers our levels of cortisol, a hormone associated with stress, which is good for us! Alan Beck of the Center for the Human-Animal Bond at Purdue University, said “what we’re embarking on now is to better understand why animals have such intrinsic value and how to use this relationship in relation to children and our aging population.”
Before Cheryl Kruse-Parillo, as assistant professor and director of the Center for Nursing Research at Kean University in Union, NJ conducted “cutting edge research” studying the saliva of people before and after watching movies about pets, scientists argued with statements like “watching movies starring pets make us feel better.” Now there are lots of studies that prove that pets are good for us, reduce our stress and make us happier. Of course, pet lovers never doubted that.
