Remeber! Many dogs and cats are afraid of loud noises and are especially traumatized by fireworks. If loud noises send your pet cowering under the bed, plan ahead and put your pet in his/her crate or move her bed into a room where you can shut the door so s/he won’t panic and make a run for it when fireworks start. Turn on the radio or TV in the room with your pet to help provide familiar sounds and reduce stress when you’re not there. If you know your pet gets really stressed out, invest in a “thunder shirt” a tight shirt that comforts them because it hugs them tight. These can be found at most pet stores, especially around the 4th of July.
