Great summer events to keep your eyes open for are Dog Parades, especially poodle parades. Very often they are held in a local park and there are prizes for things like costumes (yes costumes for the dogs) or floats, which can get to be as extravagant as a Christmas parade’s floats. The entire family will enjoy them, especially the kids! A famous one is held on Santana Row in San Jose, CA. Big Dog shirt company used to have an annual dog parade down State Street in Santa Barbara, CA. Lots of local parades include dogs or horses in their events.
